helping out

my friend carmi made this instant glam bezel with vintage image a few weeks ago
i got the chance to help out and finish it for her
the green rhinestone's determined my color choice
(using flat leather from metal complex and eyelet and rivet setter)
and of course i got carried away and made a matching
bracelet and earrings

nappa leather necklace

i love creating for my friend carmi
usually my table looks like a bomb when off, everything has to be at arms length
but i always know where every little bit is
when i'm in  carmi's studio i sit at a very clean, organized and limited table
its a great challenge to come up with ideas using only a few supplies
but after 30 minutes or so i get into a groove and before you know it i have several pieces
(above supplies from metal complex)
sometimes less is more

i've been influenced by spring and my friend carmi
to create some pink jewelry
working with products from dazzle-it
i created this faux suede bracelet and earrings

manipulating flat leather from metal complex

creating for carmi

i  am so happy to be challenged by my friend carmi
she sits me at a table in her studio with some amazing products and says
"what can you do with this"
sometimes i can only feature one element and other times i can mix and match
featuring
 aluminum  wire
flat leather
faux suede tassels
suede lace cord
neo chain
plus all kinds of findings
she displays my work on several of her wonderful blogs

i am truly blessed to have such a great friend and a wonderful opportunity
to create every day!!

another leather bracelet

since the last bracelet was so quick and easy
i decided to make another
this time I doubled the leather and chain
i used matching aluminum wire to make some jump rings and staples
it took a little math and some painters tape to mark the spots
where i wanted the holes to be punched
adding the staples to join the two straps together
(starting in the centre , working out and in every other hole)
then using the jump rings to connect the fancy heart chain
after that i simply glued the leather in the clasp
and finished

leather bracelets

i've been buzy helping my friend carmi creating
jewelry with flat leather
metal complex has made it so easy to create these bracelets
above,  a hole punch , jump rings and some fancy chain
before you know it i'm working on several more

also available are a variety of  clasps
just simply glue leather in place

trending now---leather!!

I love a challenge and playing with new products
so when my friend carmi presented me with a supply of the latest
I was like a kid in the candy store
so many colors and textures plus all the accessories
I started out by focusing on a simple color palette
and within minutes I had three cut and ready for some glue
easy peasy
add on a faux suede tassel from dazzle it
and I was on my way to creating a dozen!!
(more to show in a future post)

resin watch bezel challenge

back in the fall my friend carmi sent me a few watch bezels
for her resin time-is anytime! project
carmi posted:
With so many talented followers it is time for me to showcase
your work on both our blog and at a super event we attend in January:
The Craft & Hobby Association Conference and Trade Show  (CHA)
this weekend carmi is unveiling all the finished pieces
====
the first thing I did when I saw the brass watch was
to look through my supplies to see what would inspire me
above a layout of all the found objects I though might work
before I knew it , out came the drill, some wire and leather
I found an old wire bangle a figured why not make a watch

filling in the bezel was the easy part
I figured it was 5 o'clock somewhere
and the ETI resin pour came out perfect
and as always one thing leads to many more
but that will be another post
